Mr. Olympia 2017 Broadcast Graphics

Mr. Olympia 2017 Broadcast Graphics

I created these graphics for the 2017 webcast of the Mr. Olympia Competition in Cinema 4D and Adobe Premiere. I also edited the hour-long broadcast, including all additional graphics such a lower thirds, transitions and titles, and chose and edited the music.

The competition runs over the course of three days, and in fact comprises about eight separate competitions in different athletic categories. Editing this show requires knowing who the celebrities and top competitors are, and the general history and culture of this very particular world. There is a lot to keep track of, and it was a challenge to distill the vast amount of footage I was provided into a coherent show that could hold the attention of enthusiastic viewers.

AMI Prime

AMI Prime

A pitch video for an ad retargeting system that American Media developed. The goal was to explain retargeting and ad reach, and show how AMI capitalizes on the strength of it's publishing network.

How to Lift a Car

A few short social videos featuring animated editorial content from Muscle & Fitness magazine. These were all created from existing print content form the magazine. I adapted the illustrations to a motion graphics format, edited the content for lenght and clarity, and created the animation.

Microsoft Kudos and Crunch

I created two character animation spots for Microsoft, to promote corporate intranet applications for their employees. I did everything: script, storyboard, illustration, animation, music selection, voiceover recording, and editing.

The first is for MS Kudos, an internal system for employees to review each other's work and send congratulatory messages in order to boost morale and inspire each other.

Next, MC Crunch: a complex intranet system for compiling employee work, communications, interests and workgroup messages, to streamline productivity and collaboration. The challenge was to take this rather esoteric concept, make it more approachable, and hold the viewer's attention.

Reach Complete Care “Flip-Top Head”

An animated promotion of Reach Complete Care Mouth Rinse and the Curve Toothbrush. This is based on an animated ad from the early 80s, which featured "Mr. Reach," a character whose head flips open so he can brush his back teeth - at least until he finally tries the Reach Toothbrush.

I created this in its entirety:
wrote the script
updated the character design
drew the art in Illustrator
animated the character using After Effects Puppet rigging
textured, lit and animated 3D product sequences in Cinema 4D
selected stock music
directed voiceover
edited the final

Jamba Juice Food Frenzy Promotions

Jamba Juice Açaí Bowl

I created a number of short motion graphics promos for Jamba Juice's products, from yogurt smoothies to oatmeal to açai bowls. This meant doing research into the nutritional facts behind the products, and unifying those with entertaining trivia and the brand's marketing goals. I wrote the scripts and storyboards, animated the motion graphics, hired the voiceover talent and edited the audio. Here are just a few examples.

Next, a 1 minute spot promoting Jamba Juice's Mango Smoothie. Check out the storyboard, to see how closely the final tracks the script. I am a firm believer in visualization as the best way to establish goals and expectations that clients can rely on.
